Campaign to Protect Rural England Hampshire 2019 awards

There’s an item of local interest in the latest newsletter from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust. The trust’s Woodland Apprentice scheme and the New Forest Non-Native Plants Project were both finalists in CPRE Hampshire’s 13th annual Countryside awards. The awards celebrate a beautiful and diverse countryside that everyone can enjoy. Catherine Chatters of HIWWT has kindly allowed us to include the photograph shown below (taken by Jason Allen Photography) for it shows our treasurer, Brian Matthews, with others from the wildlife trust at the awards ceremony. Brian volunteers for the Non-Native Plants Project by pulling Himalayan Balsam from the banks and margins of local streams and rivers during the summer.
